Benton sophomore Kairschner wins two events in state meet

Benton sophomore Ellie Kairschner won two events in Division II in the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA State Swim Meet last week at the SPAR Aquatic Center in Sulphur. Kairschner, who was named Division II Female Swimmer of the Meet, won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 backstroke. Her time in the 100 fly was 58.19 seconds.

The Lady Tigers finished 14th.

Benton’s Baileigh Parker was 56th in the Class 4A girls division and Sairielys Hernandez-Cruz 60th.

Benton finished fifth in Class 4A boys.

Chandler Burns led the Tigers with a 19th-place finish in 17:18.2. Other Tigers in the scoring were Dylan Scott (27th), Logan Harris (51st), John David Carrier (58th) and Matthew Gore (66th).

Benton Girls Win District Title

Benton won the girls title by one point over Caddo Magnet. The Lady Tigers, who placed five runners in the top nine, scored 27 points. Benton’s Bayleigh Parker finished third in 22:14.2.
